Week 14 Recap: The Chicago Pittsburgh Way

Last time the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals met, Cincy put one of ours in the hospital. Yesterday, we may have put their Super Bowl chances in the morgue. Le’Veon Bell ended up on season-ending IR after our first meeting. Now there’s a chance Andy Dalton is about to join him.

Oh and by the way, the Steelers won the game 33-20 to keep their shot at a Wild Card alive.Read More »Week 14 Recap: The Chicago Pittsburgh Way

When last we met the Bengals, our star running back was being carted off the field with a season ending knee injury while the team itself saw it’s division title hopes vanish with a 16-10 loss. This Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Cincinnati Bengals in a pivotal week 14 match-up for vastly different reasons. The Bengals have the AFC North all but clinched while the Steelers find themselves in a fight for a Wild Card that currently sees them on the outside looking in. Unfortunately, the Bengals also have something to play for.Read More »Know Thy Enemy: Cincinnati Bengals

Jones Demoted But Still Employed

Tomlin Sideline Jones Jumps BackBaltimore

After Sunday night’s disastrous outing, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has demoted return man Jacoby Jones off kick and punt returns for the foreseeable future. That’s the bad news for him. The good is he’s still drawing a paycheck as the Steelers didn’t release him (yet). We often wondered what sort of blackmail Dri Archer had on Tomlin in order to stay employed despite showing no discernible talent. There’s no such mystery with Jones as I suppose Tomlin feels he owes him one for tripping him on that infamous kickoff return a couple Thanksgivings ago.Read More »Jones Demoted But Still Employed

Week 13 Recap: Clowning Around

Brown clowning

It’s all fun and games until somebody gets hurt. I guess nobody ever told Antonio Brown that.

AB’s ridiculous post humping attempt was the only black mark on an otherwise sterling effort from the Black and Gold last night. For those who went to bed early, the Pittsburgh Steelers obliterated the Indianapolis Colts 45-10 on Sunday Night Football. The game was close for about a quarter and a half, then the Steelers kicked it into gear and it turned into a straight up clowning.Read More »Week 13 Recap: Clowning Around

There’s nothing the NFL likes more than a good storyline. Oftentimes those stories are forced narratives, exaggerated by the networks to give a game a “hook” for the casual fan. As if Fantasy Football and/or degenerate gambling isn’t hook enough. However, when the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football, the story really does write itself.

Ten years ago, the Steelers met the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. The Black and Gold were led by a second year starter named Ben Roethlisberger. Seattle was quarterbacked by former back-up Matt Hasselbeck. The Steelers of course went on to win that game, then another Lombardi Trophy a few years later as Ben grew from a game manager to one of the best quarterbacks in football. Hasselbeck played nine more years for Seattle, leading them to several playoff appearances before taking on the life of a journeyman back-up the past five seasons.Read More »Know Thy Enemy: Indianapolis Colts

Big Ben Was Concussed Unless He Wasn’t

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger returned to practice yesterday after clearing the league’s concussion protocols. He entered those protocols after self-reporting symptoms from an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit during Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks. That’s what we know for sure. What we don’t know is if Ben even had a concussion.

On his weekly Tuesday radio show, Ben said the tests indicated he didn’t suffer a concussion. About an hour later, coach Mike Tomlin said he was concussed and would remain under the league’s concussion protocols for the time being. When reporters caught up with Ben, he explained that he hasn’t suffered any of the classic symptoms associated with a concussion and was told his test “looked fine” before somebody went to Tomlin and told him the opposite. Yesterday, he took another test and this time everybody was on the same page as he passed it before returning to practice.Read More »Big Ben Was Concussed Unless He Wasn’t

Tomlin Hints At Secondary Shake-up

images-10

In his weekly press conference, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin hinted at a shake-up in the secondary after their abysmal performance against Seattle. Which naturally means to expect absolutely no changes to the secondary after their abysmal performance against Seattle. He lives in hope, not fear haven’t you heard? Besides, another cliche Tomlin has traditionally followed is you dance with who brought ya.Read More »Tomlin Hints At Secondary Shake-up

Week 12 Recap: Sum Of All Fears

At halftime, Mike Tomlin was asked about his decision to try a risky fake punt/pass which resulting in an interception that set up the Seahawks’ first touchdown. “We aren’t going to live in our fears. We’re going to live in our hopes” was his classic response. Unfortunately over the next three quarters, Steeler Nation saw all their worst fears come to life. And in the end we watched the Seattle Seahawks defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a wild 39-30 shootout.

Since it was a national game I assume 99.9% of you watched it so there’s no need for a play-by-play recap. Instead, I’ll just give some random thoughts about yesterday’s costly loss. Let’s start with our defense. Although what we saw from them yesterday might barely qualify as such.Read More »Week 12 Recap: Sum Of All Fears

Hope everybody had a great Turkey Day!

Surely the Pittsburgh Steelers did. After a brutal season filled with injury after injury, the Black and Gold finally had a week off to rest and recover. Good timing, too, since the Pittsburgh Steelers face the defending NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. Even though they’ve struggled, the Seahawks will be by far the team’s biggest test thus far.

It helps that all hands should be back on deck. When last we saw Ben Roethlisberger, he was taking every snap from the shotgun to compensate for his limited mobility. He still played insanely well in relief of Landry Jones but that was against the Browns. Ben will have to be a helluva lot better if they have any hopes of beating the Seahawks in Seattle.Read More »Know Thy Enemy: Seattle Seahawks
