Well said Chris. I’m also not going to dwell on one man taking his own life but the condition that led to this does need to be addressed. Junior has had his demons for years. This is not something he just woke up one morning and considered. This is something that builds up over time for many factors and what his body went through on the field left him unable to cope. Just like many others.
It’s a shame that the NFL is just now realizing that trauma related illness is not something you only read about. It happends to players former and active each and every day.

Excellent points, Bill. The only thing I’d add is while I may give the NFL the benefit of the doubt and say they probably only understood the seriousness of trauma related illness in the past 5-10 years, it still flabbergasts me that they were pushing an 18 game season as recently as LAST SUMMER. Talk about burying your head in the sand.

Oh and off-topic but I remember you mentioned noticing your comments don’t show up after posting them. That’s because I have to approve commenting privileges for each account. I approved your old account but since you posted this under a different email addy, I had to approve it again. If you stick with the same email addy, I won’t have to approve them in the future.

This actually goes as an FYI to all my readers out there… Your first comment won’t appear until I approve the account. After that, your comments should show up immediately after submitting, provided you use the same info each time. Feel free to drop me an email if there’s any problems.
